Practical notes

One phone, possibly two commitments

Separate the mobile allowance from the device repayment.

Read both documents

Some handset arrangements combine services; others separate airtime from device finance. Locate each agreement, its minimum term and its end date. A number transfer can end airtime while leaving device repayments outstanding.

The upgrade question

An upgrade is governed by the specific arrangement. A trade-in or early device change can require condition checks, return deadlines or settlement. Preserve photographs and tracked return evidence if sending a device back.

When the term finishes

Finishing a minimum term does not always close the mobile service. Read the end-of-contract notification and check what continues. If a device balance finishes, ask how the remaining airtime is handled.

Make the comparison personal

Consider the phone you already have, battery condition, software support and accessibility. A large data allowance is not a reason to replace a usable handset. We explain the questions; we do not arrange finance or contracts.
