Practical notes

Stopping a service without losing the thread

Cancellation, number transfer and device returns need different instructions.

Decide what must survive

If keeping the number matters, discuss the transfer before closing the old line. Keep access to account verification and any important messages while planning the change.

Ask for the account position

Get the minimum-term date, any early termination amount, remaining device balance and return requirements. There may be separate obligations for airtime and equipment.

Follow the correct route

Use the provider’s cancellation or switching process, record confirmation and check the final statement. Removing an app, deleting an eSIM or stopping payment does not itself end a contract.

After closure

Retain documents and return evidence for any dispute. Ask promptly if the closure was accidental or the number is needed. Number recovery is time-sensitive and depends on the provider and circumstances.

Before you act

Confirm current details directly with the official provider. Our information is independent, general and free of a guidance fee. We do not sell or arrange services.
