Choose the right code
For a UK mobile number you want to keep, text PAC to 65075 from that line or use the provider’s official route. A STAC is for switching without keeping the number. Multiple-number accounts may need a different request process.
Check obligations first
Review the switching response and ask about any early termination charge and remaining handset balance. Obtaining a PAC is not the same as using it, and does not automatically cancel the service.
Give the code to the receiving provider
An unused PAC expires after 30 days. Supply a valid code through the new provider’s secure process and confirm the scheduled transfer. Ofcom says the switch should normally complete within one working day after the code is supplied.
If the transfer is disrupted
Keep the old and new SIM available, restart the device when advised and contact the receiving provider with the transfer date. Avoid repeatedly starting new requests. If you already cancelled, ask promptly about recovering the number; do not assume it is immediately lost.
